It really is changing fast

Well, Cherry says I am suppose to write down these feeling because I will forget them. But, I really miss nursing Sky. She is starting to take her first steps and it feels like she is running away from me. Which in reality I know she is...ahhhh. It is just like our little bond is gone. I miss the little moments through the day that we would just chill. Kind of like a tea break, but no tea and no gossip. She is growing up into a very fun girl. She loves to play, especially standing behind my back when I am sitting down or under the sheets when I am making the beds. And, she has this laugh....it is sooo contagious. So, lately she gives thes hugs....she has stopped with the open mouth kisses, but she hugs you really tight before you put her to bed...Marlon and I say it gives her at least another 5 minutes. And, then the other night I was rubbing her back and when I pulled up to leave the room she signals for me to keep rubbing...huh? so I did it again and sure enough she waves me back, Love you Sky baby

Jackson, Dad, Danielle, Elle, Khary, Mom, Me, Sky but, we are missing Marlon:( Khary and family came down for Sky's first birthday and mom and dad took us to the Georgia aquarium for the afternoon. It was amazing how all those sea animals "get along," why can't humans?

Financial Peace University

Marlon and I took FPU Financial Peace University course offered by our Destiny this summer. We just graduated Monday, 13 lessons. Mom and Dad would hang out with Sky.... which eventually has turned into overnights....yipppeeee!!!! and Marlon and I called it date night and grabbed something to eat before we headed to church. Dave Ramsey, a financial guru, taught the course... it was a lot of effort but it was soooooo worth the time - A little paradigm shift in getting your money to work for you. I have talked with a few "grandma's" since we have been in the course and it is amazing their mentality - They are so patient and frugal with their money, they really know how to stretch their dollars. Small Group Broke up

Our Destiny small group broke up this summer, we have to find another group to join or create one. But, Mark and Meliza led our church small group and we joined them when Marlon and I were really working to build up our marriage and it has always been a blessing to us. It is funny how we get what we need when we need it and then we have to let it go. .. bittersweet.

Sky and our neighbor Zakiya (a junior at Hillgrove High) are playing in the pool. Zakiya is Sky's first babysitter, and she loves her! It has been fun watching Zakiya get to know Sky and learn how to change diapers and feed her and put her to sleep, she is awesome and it is so nice to have her right next door. What a blessing!!!

Got a new camera for my 32nd birthday! And, Sky is my first pic. She's eating graham crackers here, but here eyes have just popped and if i didn't have any sense i would have eaten her or at least taken a big ol bite! Thanks for the camera mom and dad!

Marlon is such a great dad. He just loves on her before and after work. And, he is always telling me what she is thinking and how I can better meet her needs...it just cracks me up!

I adore this little girl. I love the changes she has made in our family and the absolute delight it is watching her grow!

Family Time

Marlon came to Wednesday Mother Goose at the library. He was awesome! Such the dad, and he has been singing the songs to Sky every night he comes home from work. This was a great day!

Easter Sunday We stayed at Nichol and Daves and had a really good time. We went to Danielle's church she grew up in. If you are familiar with John Kennedy Jr wedding, it is a small church in the country. Everybody is soo warm and friendly out there.

Mom Dad Marlon and Sky and I drove up to Raleigh/Durham for twinz dedication. It was a beautiful ceremony, very simple and intimate. I miss North Carolina, maybe we can build our log cabin there. It is so peaceful and the air is fresh.

A New Earth

I have been reading this book for over two weeks. My dad asked me when I was going to be done. But, it isn't one of those books you can just read and put down. You have to live it, you have to experience what Tolle is trying to enlighten you with. And, what is sooo awesome is he has many references to Jesus, and worry and bitterness and fear. Ahh it's good.

Anyway, we were in Austin last weekend without Sky for Milan and Margaret's wedding and had a really good time.

Shipley's Donuts in Houston at 34th and Ella. You gotta go if you are in North Houston. It is in the hood and literally has more people going in and out than a crack house. It is standing room only, and there is a drive thru that wrapped into the street.

This is Sky in February notice the regression, Tummy Time got 86 during rehab! But, it will be coming back now that mom can get up and down off the floor...kinda!

Pumpkin came into town for some more interviews for her residency!!! WE WANT PUMPKIN!!! Although Atlanta is last on her list, Savannah is very possible, but you never know! Peaches, Pumpkin and Javen in Georgia..... sounds like a fun summer. We are crossing our fingers! by the way, Sky is gonna look just like her beautiful Auntie, she is such a Simpson!

TIME TO VENT

What is this you ask??? my bikinis yes, I was planning on going to MEXICO with my ugly knee to go sit in the sun. I figured I deserved it and SKY if nothing else would recover. But, I couldn't walk, still on crutches. I was on a fast from Church all January and carried that into February, and even if I do say so myself I was looking really good...just waiting for my tan and anIced Tea:) So, Mexico was a no go. AAAAAHHHHH!!! And, for those out there who have never had some sun in the winter....ah man, there is nothing like it. It puts the wind in your sails, the ice in your lemonade, the cream in your coffee.... AAAAAHHHHHH!

PRAISE REPORT

Well, I will try to make this story short, but whenever someone starts like that it never is. Back in OCTOBER dad was walking up Kennesaw Mtn. and had to stop several times cause his heart was beating to fast. That was OCTOBER. He finally went to the doctor in JANUARY and they admitted him into the hospital immediately, a resting HR of 120 hey wanted to admit him right away, but he had to come home to say, "bye" to me and SKY. He's a taurus, very stubborn, but sincere and loves his family. Well, they had to do a procedure thru his main artery in his groin, don't know the name but it worked and last week he was running up a flight of stairs. It is a blessing he's alive, and a miracle that technology has him lifting weights, and feeling better than ever. I got to see just how special my parents love for each other is. My mom was in total denial that anything was going to happen to dad...she went out of town, and my dad just let her. I know it sounds weird, but that's my folks...as if they always stay current, like there is nothing they need to say or express to each other they "know." Or, maybe it is double denial. Anyway, they are 37 or 38 years srong and get to keep it going....love you dad!

So, went to Dr. Bernot today. I have been doing rehab - religiously and been very proud of how it is coming along, considering it is my 3rd time I know no one else is impressed, but I have been waking up at 5 am to go - just so I don't have to "time" Sky. Well, Dr Bernot staightened my leg ...all good and then he went to bend it and all you heard was cartilage rubbing - AAAHHHH!!!! ( aka four letter word) ...then he proceeded to tell me to hold off running...."AAAAHHHHH!!! I am not walking yet, Doc" Im posting the pic for my own good, me and this body aren't going down without a fight!

Out of the Woods

It's been 8 days since surgery. I went in for a Left Knee ACL repair. Dr. Bernot found cartilage damage and did a new technique that requires me to stay on both crutches for 3 weeks. He took the screw out from the previous surgery and was so nice that he removed the last scar and attempted the make a cleaner cut. (Part of me is crossing my fingers, part of me is over my legs looking presentable) I anticipated a week (as usual with my other ACLs) of being down and out... looks like I am going to be at my parents for 3 weeks. They are being soo nice and patient with ME, MARLON, and SKY! Ahhhh! Sky has turned on me now that I am immobile and goes to anyone walking by. 1 week down 2 weeks to go. I will add the pics of my surgery and my knee later! New Years Resolutions....Bertha is still at bay, Still Nursing, and working with rehab on the knee.

January is 1/2 way over - you're kiddin?!

January is half way thru I have one blog to show for it and this pitiful attempt to add another. January started with a trip to the clinic. Yes, the clinic. In Houston HEB's have a clinic you can walk into and since I was out of town and feeling miserable, we thought that was the best bet. So, all packed up and ready to drive back to ATL I decide I have had enough of the green stough coming out my nose and coughn up and declare I have to go to the doctor. So, all packed up with a baby, fresh seafood and Peaches dog (Bo) we head to the closest HEB its about 11am. After, 2 hours of waiting at HEB and watching all of Houston buy groceries the receptionist says that she will not be able to see me until after lunch....uh. Marlon, being the resourceful man that he is, makes a few calls and says another HEB 10 minutes away doesn't have a line. Ended up being 6 to one half dozen the other and we are in with a nurse practioner, no worries...right?! these ladies normally do more than the doctors...right?! Pumpkin told me to ask for a ZPAK, I ask the nurse if it will mess with me nursing and then she pulls out a handbook. Not one of those big books that says its a handbook but an actual handbook in her pocket. And, proceeds to read from the handbook. I am spooked. But, moving on cause my new year is running all over me. I get the zpack and feel immediate relief. My milk dried up and Sky ate rice cereal for a few days (refusing formula). I spend New Years eve in bed with my baby, and my husband on the couch in the living room watching a movie alone.

Next Event:
Destiny MW Church is on the Daniel Fast beginning January 1 (no meat, dairy, bread, sweets) for 21 days. No worries, I have done it before. But, something happens to me... this time...might be because of the nursing, dunno. But, I am turning into a scavenger and stretching the guidelines of the fast and find these chips...beets and sweet potatoes in some kind of healthy oil and tell myself it is okay to eat these. Well, not only do I eat them but I eat 2 bags on the Sunday the 6th and Monday I am pulling my car over pucking my brains out. Not to mention what the other end of me is doing! And as I am reading this I am wondering if this is my punishment for breaking my fast. Not to mention I had a doctors appt Monday, to schedule YeS my 3rd ACL surgery. What the heck!@!!! Sky is going to have to push her momma around in a wheelchair. So, then I read a blog about new years resolutions....what! I always write out my new year resolutions....guess I didn't realize it was a new year. So, in a lame attempt to follow thru I declare my New Years Resolutions....Keep Nursing Sky (I will never regret it), Get my Knee taken care of and get to running again, do this while keeping the weight off of Bertha! That is it. That is enough!

Not done. While trying to add formula to Sky's Diet. Just so she will take it, just incase. She gets my stomach virus, and pucks all over her daddy. I tell you what, it's not fun getting pucked on but at least Marlon wasn't alone and we could laugh. So, then I spend the next two days cleaning up puck and poop, changing diapers and washing everthing. One trip to the emergency room, because Sky is never fussy, and Marlon went although it was right in the middle of Saturday night Playoffs. Doc said nothing was wrong with her (and kudos to Cobb Hospital, in and out in < 1 hour)

Knee Surgery tomorrow! MRI was inconlusive about a ACL tear. So, there is nothing like telling a doctor to just go in and do what you have to do and tell me when I wake up! AAAHHH!

Well, that is it, my NEW YEAR!!! YIPPPEEEE!

Grandmother bought Sky this outfit for Christmas and I had a little (BIG) hat that went with it. If it weren't 15 degrees out I would have Sky picking flowers for the picture. Oh, the plain red wall, I have had a million and one ideas for this wall but nothing sticks! ugh

What a fun visit! Bo started doing flips when Peaches came in the door! They had been seperated for a month. Keeping Bo made me want a dog more, Snoozers (sp) are such smart dogs they are a lot of fun! Bye Bo

Grandmother Simpson, Bo and Peaches sardined themselves into Peaches Honda Accord making the trip from San Fran going to Savannah in less than 3 days! All I can say is I am impressed. Somewhere between Colorado and Oklahoma I think I would have gotten out. But, since Peaches is use to doing surgery for unbelievable amount of hours straight, I guess she would be the one to take the trip with! They made a quick stop to get Bo at the house and loved on Sky a bit. We are very excited that Peaches moved close by and will definetly be out to Savannah for the weekends.

We found the sheer butterfly print- and you cannot even appreciate it from the picture, but the sky is flannel I am going to have to milk all my sky stuff before she tells me to stop. Special Shout out to Cherry!!! I had some crazy idea that if I started with solids I would not be able to nurse. Then Cherry came Sunday and left some cereal with me. Sky ate for the first time like a PRO! The cutiest thing was she didn't "get" that opening her mouth signals that she wants more, so she was fussing for more with her mouth sealed tight! Soo cute! Marlon fed her Monday night, if you notice her hand touching Marlon it is just so slight and gentle....love, love, love
